The North American Handbuilt Show has begun. This is one of the biggest events on the calendar. Unfortunately I couldn't be there this year as I'm heading out to the Tapei Cycle Show but there's some excellent coverage out there from Bike Portland, Bike Rumor and don't forget the hardest working man in "show" business John Prolly.

An architecture student friend is currently running a project at Look Mum No Hands centering around the idea of urban countryside spaces. As the final part of his event he has organised a race (or just a ride) taking in the parks of London.
Ride to a park, take a photo, and the person with the most points wins some prizes! We have donated some gift vouchers for 1st (£50), 2nd (£20), and 3rd (£10) place. Along with some t-shirts. Starts and ends at LMNH on Saturday between 10 and 4.

Two of the greatest books from Japan...

I just received two books from Japan. They might be the best bike books I'v ever seen. The book on the left features 180+ pages on Cherubim. Describing every detail of his process from fitting to painting. The book on the left is all about Italian frame builders. The photographs are by famous Japanese cycling photographer Yuzuru Sunada. The book features everyone worth knowing and includes maps and phone numbers and website details and even where to eat in towns local to the builders, also there's a few photos of bikes and the builders them selfes.

Hopefully I will get a few of these books in to sell. Definitely I will take a few better photo's of the contents. Still wishing I could speak / read Japanese.

The normal charge is £25 labour per wheel, but if you buy everything for your wheelset from us (yes, it must be 2) we'll build them for £20 labour - the pair! That's a saving of £30.

Bus Driver in Bristol Uses Bus as a Weapon!

After an argument between the bus driver and cyclist the bus driver purposely knocks over the cyclist. The bus driver, a family man from Somerset with a 10 year perfect track record has been jailed for 17 months. The cyclist suffered a broken leg and wrist.

I think these actions from the bus driver reflect a general attitude from working drivers that if they are irritated with a cyclist they can use their vehicle to "get them back". I'v been forced into a curb by a bus in London at high speed for pulling out in front of the bus. When I caught up with the bus, the driver gave me the finger. I could reel of countless other occasions, as could most other cyclists who ride in the city on a daily basis, where a vehicle has purposely put me in danger out of irritation. Its a war zone out there and I'm glad the bus driver has gone down for 17 months, the cyclist could have been killed over road rage.

We've just taken our first delivery of a custom Magnum CX. Ed did a great job choosing a cold blue finish with subtle grey decals and a steel fork.

The Magnum CX has been popular choice in Tonic's home town of Portland for serious cross riders. The frame is built with a mix of Columbus and True Temper tubing giving an unbelievably solid and comfortable ride.

Nitto B259AA Voluntary Recall

Nitto Co., Ltd. has discovered that the B259AA "riser" bar could break while ridden, resulting in loss of control and a fall. To remedy this problem, Nitto has discontinued the B259AA and replaced it with the B260AA model handlebars.

As a Nitto importer we will happily replace your B259AA with the new stronger B260AA model. To receive a replacent bar you MUST return your old bar. You can do this either in store or return your bar back to us by mail.

It does not matter where you bought your B259AA, if you have one we can replace it.

If you exchange your bar in store we will happily reinstall the new bar free of charge. If you return your B259AA by mail we will happily reimburse you shipping charges via PayPal if you provide a receipt of shipping charges.

We are currently able to replace the B259AA bar in Silver, Black, Blue and Gold.

The Singular Osprey is £1400 equipped with Halo Aerorage wheels and sram Rival groupset. A stunning build like this is ideal on sportives and winter rides. The steel tubing will leave you begging for more road and equipped with Sram and Halo wheels the weight of the bike will be the last thing you have to worry about. For me its a dream bike, I'v got my sights set on a build like this next!

The Cargo Dream Machine comes in at whopping £1700 but comes with a Brooks saddles and grips, Paul brakes a White Industries crank. It also comes with a Sturmey Archer S2 kickback hub laced to Velocity Deep V's. Its a posh build to say the least but a steel bike like this is a bike for life.

So the pressure is on for the first range of race jerseys they've done in almost twenty years. Today I was lucky enough to check out the jerseys they are doing for this years tour. They are super slick with a subtle collar and 3/4 hidden zip. Unfortunately they won't be available to the public until 2013, the silver lining is that they are doing a whole range of TDF clothing which we will be stocking which will be hitting the shop in May.

Custom Cherubim Just In

We recently received this custom Cherubim. Its a cross between a Cherubim Sticky and a ULI. For those not two familiar with their Cherubim models that means this frame has the bent rear end and carbon fork from the ULI model and the front triangle tubing, head tube and compact geo like the sticky. Its come out very very nice and we can't wait to build it up. The build is going to be very serious.

Milani showed this to us a while ago. In short what you've got here is a tig welded off the peg road frame made from oversize Columbus Spirit. Spirit is just about the lightest steel tubing comes, its lighter and thinner than XCR and much cheaper. Very cool stuff.

I really hope we get some demand for this frame and can bring some in.

When we received our latest batch of Broby Carbons it was these 20mm clinchers that I was most excited a about. Firstly I really like the aesthetics of a low profile full carbon rim, they've got a understated look. From a far the rim looks like a interesting possibly vintage alloy rim but upon closer inspection you find a sexy fold of carbon. But (like everything we sell ;) ) they're not all looks. A low profile carbon rim builds up strong and is incredibly comfortable. Also this rim is light, it comes in at 395g, so matched with some Sapim CX rays and a nice set up hubs... say some of those new Chris King R45's in orange, DT Swiss or like I chose some British made Hopes you end up with a very special, unique wheel set.

Rivendell Ruffy Tuffy & Jack Brown Tyres

Rivendell tyres are all about smooth rolling on fine bikes which can fit a bit of 33.333333mm. They are made for Rivendell in Japan by Panaracer. Both the Ruffy Tuffy and the Jack Brown are tough but the Ruffy is super tough.

New from Singular. Your basic lugged road frame. Yes its like so many frames you will see on ebay but this is brand new. And with double butted tubing and internal cable routing you can't go wrong with this for your next project. This bike is comfortable enough for long sportives and built right will definitely be light enough but if you want to use this every day as a commute like any lugged frames its tough enough.
Wer're stocking the frame with a one inch treadless fork but we can provide a one inch threaded for those who want something really old school. These saddles are a Taiwanese take on the timeless Regal saddle. The thin regal shape lends itself to long fast rides. Also these saddles are surprisingly comfortable with a cut out in the middle allowing extra comfort. Also for the vegans out there who don't dig the leather on the regal these saddles are made from synthetic leather. At £25 how could you say no?

Frame builder Jordan Hufnagel has smashed it with his latest hand made components. The cycling world seriously lacks quality brake levers and components for town bikes. If you ever do find quality stuff the chances are it will be forged or even better CNC but here Jordan has brazed the parts together giving the finished product a feel of classic understated quality.
