48x17 Present The 1896 Classic Marathon Race Revival - Get out to Athens for June 16th!

I'v been excited for this event since Agi first mentioned the idea to me many months back. The racing will be hard and f***ing hot, hopefully a bit dusty as well.

"We feel there is a lack of endurance fixed gear road races worldwide. People have done touring on track bikes, long distance group rides and alleycat races. We wanted to combine all of the above with an event that oozes with history. The most epic of all races, a tribute to a simpler time, which will dictate the next track star.

Join the most epic of all races.

The course will cover the distance from Acropolis to Marathon and back.
Finish: 48x17 Cycles, Acropolis.
Every contestant should follow the given route. This route will be provided in a later stage but it passes through Kifisias Avenue all the way up to Agios Stefanos and then turns towards Marathon Lake. Please see the route on bikely link provided to avoid any confusion. Marshalls have the right to disqualify any rider if they judge so.
There will be race marshalls on motorbikes en route and several key points.
There will be music and drinks for spectators at 48x17 Cycles as we will wait for the riders to return.

Nitto oversized Bullhorns

Admittedly Nitto have been a little slower than other brands in modernising their clamp size. But over the last year they've pretty much caught up with a range of excellent lightweight oversize road bars and stems aimed more at the road and track market. Now with the arrival of oversized versions of their popular RB018 & RB021 bullhorns there is a oversize option for every bar type. We especially like the detailing on the RB021SSB where Nitto have stamped their crest over the bar clamp. Available here

We have just received delivery of two new books from the great publishing house of Kurt Boone.

Both books feature the art of Greg Ugalde, a bit of a rarity in book form. The photography in New York Alley cats gives you an amazing in insight into the scene and will get you inspired to go out there and do what you. Books available here

We're currently stocking jerseys and T's, the bibs and accessories will be dropping next week. We're looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Morvelo and can already confirm we will be collaborating on some special team jerseys which will be dropping later this Summer.

New for 2012 - Tokyo Fixed - Road Rocket

With the Road Rocket we went ahead and indulged by designing our dream road frame. We have used our favourite tubing (Columbus MAX chain stays and down tube, Spirit seat tube and head tube and a skinny Keirin top tube & seat stays) to deliver performance in all the right places. The frame weighs 1.7kg / 2.06kg inc the Columbus Minimal full carbon fork. The Road Rocket is a credible contendor against titanium and carbon frames with all the comfort and durability steel brings. Estimated retail price will be £775 frame only / £900 frame and fork. Our first shipment is in the water now and will be with us very soon.
We will be offering the Road Rocket as a great value complete as well as a framset with a choice of Shimano Ultegra or 105.

Tokyo Fixed 2012 Team Jerseys

Our 2012 Jerseys are made for us in Italy by GSG. We have used their top end race jersey which will surely impress with laser cut arms and actual carbon fiber weave in the side panel. But most importantly these jerseys feel great and are top quality.

The Pescetarian Team Jersey (Red one covered in fish) features the photography of London based photographer Tom Hartford. Tom's photo was taken at Tokyo's famous Tsukiji fish market. If you love fish, Tsukiji market or Japan we made this jersey for you.

Riding Box Hill and Beyond

In the build up to the Olympics Box Hill has been getting a lot of attention. Last weekend I indulged in the newly laid Tarmac. With 220m of elevation and no considerable steepness the hill is not the biggest challenge but its a lovely ride with ONE stylish hair pin worthy of a Rouleur magazine double spread.  Last weekend was one of the finest days of our so far dismal Spring, so the crowds were out. There would have been around 50 riders on the climb at any one time and there was a great atmosphere. I climbed the hill twice with a fairly nice 8 mile loop. The male olympians will be climbing the hill a staggering 9 times. After Box Hill we rode onto the Surrey hill lapping around Peaslake. I couldn't be more impressed with the riding in the Surrey Hills. Constant rolling hills and stunning surroundings. The best of British especially in the Sunshine.

Did you see Cavendish's crash in the last stage of the Giro?

Terrible intro but hold on, this video delivers the goods.

Its gutting to see Cavendish get taken down just when he started to put the power down and amazing to see the riders behind Cavendish avoid him with bunny hops and swerves at incredible speed. Classic.

Jacob & his S1

Jacob's the man behind the counter in the shop and sometimes the man in warehouse packing your orders. But last weekend he was the man racing his little heart out, keeping up with the leading pack all the way into the final sprint. This was his first race and he'd only been training since weather allowed. Either he's naturally fast or its that S1 he rode. We built it up with super stiff Deadly Disc rims and Sram Omniums. Like a Keirin bike on steroids. Jacob found the track geo of the S1 perfect for the Hunt. Built with Spirit Keirin and a Kasei fork when it to putting the hammer down the frame responded. Well done S1. And well done Jacob. Looks like we'll be keeping you on this beast so you can get some proper training in the for the next race. More photos here

We are looking for someone to help us transfer content to a new website, which has been built on the Magento platform. Working from our offices in west London, you will upload images and input existing copy, ensuring correct layout of each product along the way. There's quite a bit to do, but we think it should only take a few days with potential for more work in the future as and when required.

In order to be considered, you will need to demonstrate a good level of ability in all of the following:

- Working within content management systems
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Fluency in written english

A knowledge of bikes, bike parts and Magento is a strong advantage, but the main thing we need is an ability to transfer the content accurately and quickly.

If you have the skills and are interested to find out more, send a CV / portfolio link / introduction to

Hunt Over & Out

We had a blast. Thanks so much to all the sponsors, volunteers, racers and everyone who showed up to spectate.

We will be releasing the results of the final race asap. Unfortunately I don't even have the top three list to hand, I can say the the race was won by a very strong Italian from IRIDE, the second place slot was a also taken by a beast of a Italian and the third slot was taken by Olli from Morvelo. Congratulations. The racing was hard fought.

You can get a peek of the action through the magic of instagram

Bespoked Bristol Cherubim Build

The Cherubim ULI is a racier frame than Cherubim's other models so we gave it a racier build with Easton EC90 carbon wheels, oversized Nitto bars, Thomson finishing kit and a bit of Sram. Its a stunning bike and got people rather excited at Bespoked Bristol. I'm sure this bike is making its new owner very happy. More info on ordering a Cherubim here. More photos here

Chrome x Cardiel Attack Series Now In

David's Tonic

Every time we get one of these in I say the same thing. It doesn't get better than this! David's custom Supernaut must be one of the largest out there and really stands out with his name in 50's script and bold Tonic graphics on the inside of the fork and stays. More here

The UKC/UKH Mountain Photography Awards

A chance to sneak in some climbing news. BUT the Mountain Photography Awards includes cycling photography as well. Not that it matters as we all appreciate good photography. More here
