Get out of town!

London can be an overwhelming place. So much going on.
At the weekends, use your bike, and get the hell out of here. Today I rode my Surly out to Oxford. Rolling hills and green fields...only 30 miles from the shop

Tokyo Fixed - Custom Low Pro

We built this frame for a regular customer who totalled his Vitus Low Pro. We copied the super low Vitus geometry to the T replacing the bonded alloy tubes with a sweet mix of Columbus Spirit, MAX and Kaisei tubing. The frame is fillet brazed in the style of the Cinelli laser.
A full custom frame like this will set you back around £850.

In an interruption to our normal service...

Skulls (our mechanic) is heading off touring for 8 days this Thursday so it's going to limit our mechanic services a little. Jacob will be standing in for 3 days next week, but other than that it'll be basic repairs/punctures only!
Apologies for any inconvenience/delays this may cause.

Shop Builds: Mash Histogram

We had a call from a customer in Leeds recently asking us to build him a bike similar to the "team" Mash histograms. There were 2 specifications; under £2k and as light as possible.

£1900 and 7460grams later we sent him this...

Serpentine and Sunshine with the guys

Group rides and a beer are what bikes are all about. I think Tokyo Fixed may have found it's new hangout spot, down by the Serpentine.

Product Review: Soma Everware tyre

Brakeless fixed gear riders must give tyre designers/developers sleepless nights; few styles of riding put their kit through so much abuse! The boffins at Soma seem to have hit the nail on the head with this one though. The Everware is specifically designed for the rigours of riding brakeless on the street, with around 5mm of compound along a central ridge of the tyre meaning it will outlast any other on the market. There is also something special in the compound meaning skids break away easily and controllably on any surface which gives me the confidence to ride faster than I used to on those hand made German crocodile-related tyres (you know the ones I mean ;)

Team the Everware up with a Continental GP4000 on the front and you've got a fast, light, long lasting and super-grippy combo which feels perfect, in my opinion.
Niether of the tyres mentioned are cheap but they will outlast their competitors 3 or 4 times over, so it's a wise investment!

The Shops Been Busy! Mash Histogram Build, Milani Acciaio Purro and a 3Rensho Road Bike

More spacecraft than Histogram.

This Milani Acciaio Purro was custom built with Campagnolo Record 11 Speed and a Deda finishing kit. The frame is made in Italy from Columbus XCR stainless steel, the bike comes in at 7.5kg without even trying making for a very fast bike.

Our of all the 3Rensho's to go through the shop this is the first we have built up in store. The customer wanted NOS Campagnolo on this bike but not too old. We sourced a NOS Campagnolo Record group from around 2001, which boasts mostly Alloy components with a bit of Ti & carbon. Stunning.
