Simply stunning. Always at the forefront of showing that "hand made" and seriously fast can sit together. I love the oversize Ti tubing and the oversize head tube. BB30 is here to stay, I'v heard mixed reviews but if IF says its considerably stiffer I listen! The seat tube construction is artful and I'm sure the details on the mast will be getting a lot attention on the blog circuit. The chances are this will be incredibly pricy but if you've got $5000 + to spend on a frame, between the Storck's, Serotta's and this I know which I would choose!

Drinking in Osaka with Funny & Kentaro of Kentalog (The Japanese Prolly!)

Today we met with Nitto. Nitto is a company which I knew very little about despite stocking it since we opened. Its also by a long way my favourite component manufacturer. I love the look of their parts, the quality, weight, graphics, box's... everything they do is flawless. Anyway after spending the day with Nitto I no longer wonder about the mysteries of the company. They are based in East Tokyo and have a factory a distance out of Tokyo, six people in the office / warehouse and a further forty in the factory. We will be visiting a factory next week and I will be sure to get a video of some alloy bending in action. Yoshikawa San is Nitto's current president he is the third president from his family. Nitto was started by his great grand parents. His great grand father was a metal polisher and his great grand mother did the book keeping. He says they saw a niche in the market when Keirin racing arrived in Japan and the components they used didn't stand up to the stress of a fast sprint. Nitto don't really follow trends. Yes they've released things for the fixed gear market such as the T19 sets and the ADBX bars but this is at the request of other parties. So as it stands the bulk of the business is selling bars and stems which have changed very little in the last twenty years, some havent changed in much longer. And this is what they're good at, and this is what we love them for because quite simply no one else is doing this anymore.
We will be doing a line of bars in collaboration with Nitto as well as a couple of very limited runs of old stems. Lots more photos to follow, for now you can view a couple of pages from some of their vintage catalogues on our flickr

24K Gold LEVEL

Very sweet. Seen at the Level workshop in East Tokyo. It was built for a Keirin rider who raced it then returned it to Level for display. Currently not for sale. More photos on our flickr

Cherubim at Tokyo Fixed

After months of drooling over photos of Cherubim's frames we were finally able to visit the work shop and place an order for some frames for the shop. We will be stocking the Cherubim Piuma, Sticky and the ULI as well as the NJS track frames. All Cherubim frames are made from custom Kasei tubing making them the lightest steel frames available. Mid sized frames come in at 1.3kg with possible upgrades bringing them even lighter. The finish on Cherubim's is incredible. They use wet transfers giving the graphics a clean look. They don't spare on the chrome or masking work either.
Cherubim have a rich history. Shinichi Konno is the curent head builder taking over from his father who is the brother of the legendary builder Yoshi Konno of 3Rensho. Shinichi is taking Cherubim to new levels of greatness with a major prize both years at nahbs.
I will be able to confirm availability and pricing in about two weeks.

We've been in touch with Ale from Italy recently who's been telling us about a good friend of his Giovanni Pelizzoli. Pelizzoli's frames look stunning. To put it bluntly these are some of the nicest new steel Italian frames I'v seen. These look exactly as they should; unchanged since the sixties. Hopefully we will be able to get one into the shop. Much more here

Definitely would like to visit...

Moda's new Titanium Track Frame

Moda is UK distributor EuroBike's in house brand. For 2011 they will be doing three track frame; an alloy frame, a carbon frame and this titanium beauty. Word is that the titanium frame will come out at around £1000. From the looks of the integrated headset and ti drop outs that's a good deal. We're looking forward to getting a few of these in.
